We are excited to announce a series of new appointments and promotions which celebrate the efforts of the NH team over the past year.

Nick Bourns joins Roger Nelson and Hamish Lyon as Director

Nick is an innovative Design leader at NH Architecture with 15 years’ experience in the industry. He is a leader in design, project briefing and the delivery of complex projects in Public-Urban environments, Health, Commercial, Education, Residential and Masterplanning. He has a wealth of knowledge for navigating complex and large stakeholder groups. Nick has a wealth of  experience working Local Governments, Victorian Government authorities, VHBA and Australia’s leading tertiary education providers. Nick is an active participant in architectural discourse of Melbourne and continues share this passion for through teaching at both RMIT and most recently Swinburne University.

His role as an NH Director is to lead strategic design thinking, complex stakeholder coordination and an appreciation of the importance for collaborative practice.

Nick’s communication and presentation skills enable him to synthesise the desires of stakeholders and follow through with an integrated design vision. He has extensive experience in accommodating a variety of perspectives, an invaluable skill that has enabled the successful delivery of projects such as the Queen Victoria Market renewal project, Pathway 144 Mental Health Hospitals, Heidelberg West Housing, Cassells House Commercial and recently the Swinburne Urban Design Framework.

Felicity Douglas returns in a new role as General Manager

With 20 years of International and Australian experience across Residential, Retail, Commercial and Transport sectors of architectural design Felicity has a passion for delivering great Architecture and brings a unique wealth of practical experience in running successful large scale complex projects and teams to her role as General Manager of our practice.

A genuine collaborator with a unique brand of calm efficiency, strong leadership and communication skills with an agility to work with clients, stakeholders and colleagues of all ages, experience and backgrounds. Felicity thrives on building and nurturing her many client relationships globally while ensuring projects surpass client expectations.

Felicity’s role as general manager will clearly and deliberately manage our studio in the day to day whilst maintaining design advocacy is at the forefront of what we do whilst building and maintaining client relationships to forge the practice into the future.

Mentoring has been a focus throughout Felicity’s career fostering open forums for creativity and growth and knows the importance of this aspect of a practice to lead happy and engaged teams for exemplary outcomes.

Accompanying Nick and Felicity, NH has appointed two new Principals, Lucinda Arundel and Martin Heide, as well as five new Senior Associates and seven new Associates. These appointments celebrate the achievements of our emerging leaders and their collective contributions to the studio.

Principals

Lucinda’s architectural experience spans education, workplace, health, retail and masterplanning. She has expertise working on medium to large-scale projects for both government and private sector client groups, equipping her with an aptitude for working with complex stakeholder group structures and has demonstrated exceptional skill in addressing clients’ needs.

Martin’s contribution to the studio spans design, research and conceptual planning. He demonstrates a rare skill set that straddles urban design, architecture and interiors and brings an in depth understanding of the relationship between large-scale gestures and the finer-grain of peoples’ experience of the built environment.
