Forest Hill Chase

This suburban centre has been a central meeting point for the locality for close to 60 years. NH Architecture are working to revitalise the centre, improving the experience for visitors through a targeted program of upgrades.

Our concept draws from the idea of a living forest with natural materials, colours and textures throughout the three storeys of the centre: from the forest floor, through the understorey and the tree canopy to the sky. Through this new design narrative, we hope to create a cohesive look and feel, reducing visual noise and creating a more seamless experience.

The existing vertical connections will be better defined with a consistent material language and greenery. We’re upgrading the food court to create a bustling and activated Market Hall experience with canopies to define the food and beverage kiosks. We’ve added clear seating zones with inclusive seating options. Our design team has prioritised Australian made furniture in our selection. Wayfinding throughout the centre will be more intuitive with clear and uninterrupted sightlines introduced and clever ceiling detailing to define shopfront thresholds.

We’re also enhancing the entry spaces and street presentation so that visual consistency is maintained. In keeping with the forest theme, the canopy at most prominent entry to Mahoney’s Road will be reclad in timber and supported by a tree shaped column. The entry area will be activated with a new food and beverage offering, feature planting and seating and a green wall.
