Ngalaiya Collective shortlisted to design WSU Indigenous Centre of Excellence

The Ngalaiya Collective have been selected as a finalist in the competition to design an Indigenous Centre of Excellence at Western Sydney University. We’re thrilled to be a member of this team led by Greenaway Architects and Greenshoot Consulting alongside COLA Studio, OCULUS, Jabin, and Atelier Ten.

The Centre of Excellence will celebrate tens of thousands of years of Indigenous knowledge systems, culture, and history. We’ve relished the opportunity to understand the potential of this project to create a uniquely First Nations space on Dharug Country at Western Sydney University’s Paramatta South campus.

Dillon Kombumerri, chair of competition selection committee praised the quality of the entries, which he said underlined the design industry’s understanding of the significance of the project. “Designers from around the country recognize the Indigenous Centre of Excellence as a unique opportunity to contribute to First Peoples’ education and culture. The selected finalists have demonstrated exceptional potential in shaping this iconic First Nations space.”

Our team have enjoyed working with such a talented group of practitioners and look forward to the announcement of the winning design at the end of the year.
