Studio visit to Tarakan Street Social and Affordable Housing site

Some of the NH team visited our social and affordable housing project in Tarakan Street, West Heidelberg last week.

We’ve been working alongside Bird de la Coeur Architects and Openwork Landscape Architects to deliver 130 dwellings across three buildings: a cluster of townhouses at the northern end of the block, a three-storey apartment building and a six-storey apartment building to the south.

It was great to see these buildings taking shape. Our intention is for the apartment buildings to act as a civic anchor for the neighborhood and it’s clear that the entrances are meeting the brief with their impressive scale and material treatment.

Our team enjoyed the balcony and rooftop spaces, which have spectacular views across the surrounding suburb. It was interesting to see the neighbouring housing and compare old with new.

We look forward to watching as these buildings are completed over the next few months.

The Tarakan Street Social and Affordable Housing project is part of the Big Housing Build, a Victorian Government program investing $5.3 billion to deliver over 12,000 new homes for people who need them.
