Empire City is a large scale mixed-use development 8 km west of the centre of Kuala Lumpur in the suburb of Damansara, a central commercial hub surrounded by affluent residential areas.
The project occupies a 9 hectare site at the intersection of two busy highways and combines retail, residential and commercial uses.
The site is divided into several pedestrian zones with 12 towers rising from three storey retail podiums, each with a unique character in use and appearance.
NH Architecture was commissioned to develop facade concepts for all external skins as well as to develop the retail strategy, podium planning and circulation concepts for the overall development. The open spaces created by low level retail architecture generate the public realm, similar to other large scale developments like QV or CBW in Melbourne.
